Multiply blend mode for column background

I am trying to apply a multiply blend mode on the background color of a column. I have added this in the css, then added the class suffix for the column but it doesn't seem to have any effect :

.blendeded {
background-blend-mode: multiply;
}

Is there anything I do wrong?
