We’re encountering an issue in the Gridbox editor where any modal instantly closes, and the Gridbox right‑click context menu also disappears immediately. After isolating, the root cause appears to be a conflict with the Chrome “React Developer Tools” extension. Disabling the extension and reloading the page restores normal behavior.
Environment
OS: Windows 11 Pro (64‑bit)
Chrome: 140.0.7339.128 (Official Build) (64‑bit) and 140.0.7339.186 (Official Build) (64‑bit)
Joomla: 5.3.3
Gridbox: 2.19.0.4 and 2.19.0.5
React Developer Tools: 6.1.5 (7/4/2025) (Created from revision 5d87cd2244 on 7/4/2025)
Steps to reproduce
Open the Gridbox editor in Chrome with React Developer Tools enabled.
Reload the editor tab.
Attempt to open any Gridbox modal (e.g., element settings) or use the Gridbox right‑click context menu.
The modal/context menu appears briefly and then closes instantly.
Observed behavior
All editor modals auto‑close immediately.
The custom right‑click context menu closes instantly as if a blur/click‑away event fires.
Workarounds verified
Disabling React Developer Tools and reloading the page fixes both the modals and the right‑click context menu.
Using Chrome Guest Mode (no extensions) or another browser avoids the issue.
Notes
DevTools Console/Network show no Gridbox asset errors (no 403/404) during the issue.
The problem looks like an event/focus interaction triggered by the extension’s injected content scripts.
Request
Could you please confirm the conflict and, if reproducible, consider a defensive workaround in the editor to prevent extension‑injected handlers from closing Gridbox modals/menus?
If a workaround isn’t feasible, documenting the conflict and recommending disabling React Developer Tools (or restricting site access for that extension) during Gridbox editing would help.
Thank you for looking into this.
Have a wonderful day.
