We think we caught a bug, but it might also be 100% intended behaviour, although we find it strange behaviour, but that can happen.
When you set margin (see images) in the language switcher element, it is applying this margin to the outer container of the element but also to the IMG element inside the container. This is different behaviour from all the other Gridbox elements, where it is only applying margin to the outer container.
We would expect the margin setting for the image to be found under design > flag, as it would be with the other elements.
