So, with incredible pride, we want to introduce you the Photo Editor for the Joomla website builder Gridbox which allows you to resize, compress, crop, rotate and flip the image directly in the Gridbox!
Images are an integral part of web design. Websites designing often need to work with images. Generally, high-quality images are absolutely not adapted for websites, they are huge in size, which negatively affects on website performance. Because of this, we were forced to use third-party photo editors or online services to optimize images, it was very uncomfortable and took a lot of time. Therefore, we have decided to create a photo editor directly in the Gridbox.
Gridbox photo editor is a truly amazing and incredibly useful tool, that will greatly facilitate your life and save a whole bunch of time. You no longer need to use third-party services or software to optimize and edit images, all you need is already available in the Gridbox.
Photo Editor
Gridbox Photo Editor is part of the Gridbox media manager. To start editing the image, you need to open the context menu with the right click on the image and select "Edit".
The photo editor's design is made in dark tones. We tested two versions: classic light gray and dark. The dark design had been left as the final version because using dark tones, all attention is focused directly on the image.
Gridbox Photo Editor has a very easy and intuitive interface. At the top, you can see tabs with available tools and in a sidebar the settings themselves.
Next, we'll consider in more detail the available options but before that, we want to note that you can edit the following file types: png, jpg, and jpeg.
Resize and Compress
The "Resize" tab has represented a set of tools with which you can optimize the size of your image. Optimizing images will provide you faster page loads.
Width and Height
Using the "Width and Height" options, you can reduce the size of the image. The resize is proportional, by reducing one value (width or height), the second value (width or height) will be changed proportionally.
Quality
Using the "Quality" slider, you can set the image quality and set it from 0 to 100%. When setting the image quality, you need to find a golden mean between quality and compression level.
The compression tool shows excellent results. You can get a very small image size and at the same time save the perfect image quality.
Crop Pictures
With the help of Gridbox Photo Editor, you can very easily and intuitively crop images for your needs. In the editor, you can find various methods of cropping.
Free Transform
Using the cursor, you need to select the area you want to keep and after pressing the "Apply" button, everything else will cut out.
Width and Height
You can enter specific width and height values for the image that will be cropped.
Aspect Ratio
This option allows you to crop images with a specified aspect ratio. The most popular formats used in the website building are available to you: 1:1 (Square), 3:2 (Portrait), 3:4 (Landscape), 16:9 (Landscape).
In the freshly released 160 page blocks for the Gridbox, we used the next aspect ratios for the images: 1:1, 3:2 and 3:4.
Flip and Rotate
Options "Flip and Rotate" help you very quickly flip or rotate your image.
Rotate an Image
With the "Rotate" options, you can rotate the image clockwise and counterclockwise. The image is rotating at 90 degrees.
Flip an Image
If you want to reflect the image, you can use the Flip options. You can flip the image both vertically and horizontally.
Saving
In order to save the work done with the image editing and optimization, you need to click on the "Save" button where you will be offered two options: "Save" and "Save as Copy".
If you select "Save", the original image file will be overwritten. The "Save as Copy" option creates a copy of the file, you will need to enter a new name for your image.
