Button Field for Gridbox Content Apps

We continue to improve the functionality of Joomla website builder Gridbox. We have added a plugin with which you can make your content applications more functional — the Button field. So, let's take a look at how it works!

The new Button field is for Store App, Portfolio App, Hotel Rooms App, and any other content apps built with Zero App. It's not just an ordinary button. Otherwise, we would not have added it as another plugin. The field has several features that make it unique and indispensable. What is special about the Button field? You’ll learn about it from the field settings.

In addition to the standard settings, the Button field has several new options. It is these options that will help optimize the process of your work, save your time, and more.

Label Type Option

Any button can be given a Label. The Button field is no exception. Besides that, the Button field has two Label Types: Default and Constant.

With the "Default" label type, the button will work as a field URL where the button's label must be entered within the item submission.

But what about the Constant? With the button type “Constant”, the label must be entered directly in the plugin settings.

Thus, you don't need to enter the name of the button when filling out the item. As you can see on the screen below, the field label is not available.

Using the button type "Constant" has 2 big advantages. First, you don't have to enter the same button label every time within the item submission. And secondly, hmm... Well, let's get more details here.

Redesign, website concept change, or seasonal discounts. All this requires changing the call to action in all the buttons. And what to do, go to each page of the content app and change it manually? But what if there are more than a hundred pages? What then? Ooh, it's getting bad just imagining this routine. Now take it easy! We have taken care of saving your time. If one day you need to rename all one hundred buttons, then the Constant option will help you do it very quickly. So, don't forget to set the Constant in the Label Type so that you can quickly rename all the buttons.

Button Types Option

The new field comes with four Button Types. You have known about the Default and Download types for a long time. So let's not focus on them. But let's take a closer look at the new "Email" and "Phone" button types.

Automatic opening of mail client with an already set email address for sending. All you have to do is start composing your message. It is enough just to click the button. Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? This is exactly what will happen if you set the button type"Email" in the field settings.

We think you have already guessed how the "Phone" button type works. Clicking on a button on your site starts a call to the number that you set in the settings. You no longer need to write spells as a tag attribute ...href="tel:... . Now all you need to do is enter your phone number. It is very convenient if your site represents a hotel or restaurant business. Just click a button, and you can quickly call to book a room for the weekend.
